This is the latest news : Ramar Sethu is a man-made sea ridge: Study EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE BANGALORE: A recent scientific research using archeo-astronomy tools has sought to prove that Ramar Sethu is not natural but a man-made sea ridge. It�s a testimony to the civil engineering marvel of an ancient civilisation, that stands even today as a man-made accretion over a natural formation in the sea. The Sethu came to be known as Adam�s bridge as Sri Lanka�s first Muslim leader, Adham, reached the island from India crossing over this bridge. The Europeans found it easy to call it Adam�s Bridge rather than Nala Setu or Ramar Sethu. Hari said that the scientific corroborating evidences is the outcome from the analysis of astronomical skycharts using modern scientific tools, geological surveys and research, archaeological research, historical notes of travellers, published Government Gazettes and historical records of the British. Today, there is a natural sea ridge formation over the seabed linking the land masses of India and Sri Lanka. Hari said “the sea level has risen nine feet above the bridge in the last 7000 years. The bridge is covered under the layers of hardened sands." About the execution of the bridge, Hari said that Nala identified a linear chain of islands and converted it with land fills and used it for building the 35-km bridge in just five days at a ratio of 100:10 with an average breadth of 3.5 km as found by NASA and also mentioned in the ancient scriptures. The dilapidated structure still stands testimony to the engineering marvel of that period. It comprised 103 small patch reefs lying in a linear pattern with reef crest, sand and intermittent deep channels. The space left between the stones allows water to pass through it. Thus, the knowledge of pore pressure was incorporated in the bridge, Hari said. Don�t demolish: On the research work of Bharath Gyan, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of Art of Living said, “while there are controversies surrounding the existence of Sri Rama, this organisation has come up with scientific details with facts and figures." I leave it to the best judgement of MK / Taliban Balu and others who spoke on this to either resign from their jobs or commit suicide !! |

The Mahakavi Bharathiar Poems published by Varthamanan Pathipakam Chennai [first edition january 2004 and second edition september 2005] page 284 contains the following lines.
சிலுவையிலெ அடியுண்டு யேசு செத்தான்
தீயதொரு கனையாலெ கண்ணன் மாண்டான்
பலர்புகழும் இராமனுமே யாற்றில் வீழ்ந்தான்.
Mahakavi Bharathiar says Lord Rama committed suicide by drowning in sarayu river. Let us mourn the suicide of Lord Rama. My friends who are upset over the suicide story of Rama, wants Tamilnadu Chief Minister Dr.Kalaignar M.Karunanithi too to follow the suicidal path of Lord Ram. There is no necessity for Kalaignar to commit suicide.Nor T.R.Baalu has reasons which prompted Rama to commit suicide.Suicide is cowardice, it may the the prefered path of the hate mailer.

Why are you writing something to just fill the gap and exhibit your ignorance. And you say that Sri Rama committed suicide? Like Neversayno32 said, you think the world is dark, by closing your eyes. Do you ever know the reasoning behind Sri Rama entering the Sarayu River or Sri Krishna getting hit by an arrow? And the funny thing is you quote Bharathi, who was a stauch believer of both is Avatars of the God. Bharathi used those slangs in a poetic meter and you take it literally to suit your ulterior motives. God who has the ultimate power, also decides His own method to go back to His abode after transcending on to this earth to fulfill a committment. And exactly this is what They both did. They chose their method to get back. So the case of Sri Rama is neither a suicide, nor the case of Sri Krishna is a murder. Konjam unga moolaya use pannunga sir.

First of all What more worse than committing suicide interms of cowardice is trying to corner and attack ppl who aren’t interested in conflict. So you trying to browbeat the Brahmins and separating them for attack is no less cowardice than suicide.
Secondly not all suicides are cowardice. The ones that are committed in fear can definitely be called cowardice. But if one committs it out of remorse and moral values then its definitely the bravest. Assuming that Rama had done what he did only to punish himself for questioning Sita’s Chastity whom could he have asked to kill him for he was beloved to everyone at that time. Also mind you that no man was brave enough to take on him. That being the case its not a shame.

Looks like UPA has itself decided to commit harakiri, since the ministers have decided to urge continuance of the project.
UPA does not deserve any more sympathy, since they are even unwilling to undertake archeological / scientific investigation, but want to go by their collective consensus, which is worth zilch !!
BJP at least now, should take up the stick and beat UPA/DMK, to save the Ancient Bridge !
If they falter, they also deserve to be thrown down to dust !
